NEW DELHI, Jan 2 Asia Pulse - A 29 per cent growth in imports during November last year took the sheen off a sustained recovery in exports, which booked an impressive increase of 16 per cent to US$4.13 billion.

Commerce and Industry Minister Arun Shourie said the growth in exports was commendable, but warned that the industry still has a long way to go in improving its competitiveness, particularly in comparison to countries such as China.

As per provisional trade data released today, exports during the April-November 2002 period registered an impressive 15.65 per cent growth, as imports posted an 14.25 per cent increase during the same period.
