MUMBAI, Jan 2 Asia Pulse - Oil marketing companies IOC, BPCL and HPCL may extend the "gasohol" experiment to their newly introduced high-end premium fuels, by mixing five per cent ethanol in their branded petrol category.

"We will first start by blending ethanol with regular petrol and after testing its market success, the blending will be then extended to the branded petrol category as well," IOC executive director S.K. Swaminathan told PTI.

IOC plans to launch its branded petrol "Premium" and diesel "Super" in 25 cities across the country.

"Unlike other branded fuels, IOC's products have 92 per cent octane fuel - the highest ever in India," Swaminathan said.
