Last month's mid-term elections produced big victories for the Republican Party in both the House and Senate. The Republicans now control the House, the Senate and the White House. The Republican wins were largely seen as a testament to the popularity of President Bush and his ability to deliver voters when and where they are needed most.

In the House, the Republicans picked up seven seats and gained control of the House by a margin of 228-206 (there is one Independent). This was the first election in the House since the 2000 redistricting maps were drawn; clearly, redistricting was a factor in this election.
