Jameer Nelson, G, St. Joseph's. He has been nothing less than remarkable, leading the Hawks in scoring (20.4) and assists (4.2) and ranking second in rebounds (5.1). Nelson had a career-high 34 points in a December 31 win at Gonzaga, capping the Hawks' impressive nonconference run.

Jake Sullivan, G, Iowa State. ISU always seems to have a guy who has been around forever. This time, it's Sullivan, and he's only a junior. An elite deep shooter, he helped the team to a 10-1 start. ISU will need to carry the momentum into a brutal conference-opening stretch: vs. Kansas, at Texas, vs. Oklahoma, at Missouri.

John Grice, F, Memphis. Grice, who was academically ineligible last season, has been a pleasant surprise. On a team with several key players who have missed part of the season, Grice has played every game, averaging 13.7 points and 7.6 rebounds. Memphis should have no problem winning the National Division.
