Sri Lanka can look forward to the New Year with renewed confidence after beating Australia A by five wickets in their one-day cricket match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Opener Marvan Atapattu's unbeaten 101 off 137 balls guided Sri Lanka home with eight balls to spare for only their second win on their Australian tour.
After Australia A made 210 for eight off their 50 overs thanks to Ryan Campbell's 61, Sri Lanka reached 211 for five in the 49th over with Atapattu and Russel Arnold (47 not out) combining for an unbeaten 78-run stand after the visitors lost 28 for four.
Sri Lanka were cruising at 105 for one in the 27th opener before Nathan Hauritz (2-34) and Greg Blewett (1-19) applied the brakes.
