BALLYMENA UNITED manager Kenny Shiels omitted striker Shea Campbell, target of much transfer speculation, from his side which met Limavady United in a First Division game today.

Campbell, scorer of 25 goals, comes out of contract on January 18, and has already been linked with Glenavon and Portadown.

Shiels said today: "He has been unsettled by all this and so too is my team. It is a situation which cannot continue and must be sorted out quickly.

"We have made the player what I consider is a fantastic offer so the ball is in his court. If he is to move, then as a professional under-24 years of age, we will seek a sizeable fee for him.

"I spoke to Campbell who was my first professional signing when I joined United, after a training session and he agreed to give me his answer within the next two weeks. If he doesn't remain, then obviously we would sign someone as a replacement. Time is important".
