POLICE were today hunting for a callous thief who robbed an 88-year-old woman as she attended a funeral in Belfast city centre.

The elderly woman was left shocked after the robber snatched her hand-bag as she attended funeral Mass at St Patrick's Church, Donegall Street, at 1pm yesterday.

The man grabbed the bag, containing a sum of cash, and escaped the church before fleeing along North Queen Street and Victoria Parade with an accomplice.

The funeral directors later recovered the burnt remains of the woman's property. Her pension and social security ...
