THOUSANDS of revellers thronged the streets around Belfast City Hall last night for the New Year celebrations.
The main attraction was the BBC Radio 1 sound stage, which blasted out all the hits with DJ Judge Jules.
A good-natured crowd of about 20,000 saw in the New Year with noisy enthusiasm. Special police contingents were not required as party-goers kept their focus on having a good time.
Meanwhile, a host of top celebrities opted to ring in the New Year at the Odyssey's new VIP nightclub, Precious.
Westlife's Kian Egan and Shane Filan jetted into the city last night to celebrate the arrival of 2003 at the exclusive club.
