Stuart Hignell, who owns Bristol Gas Supplies in St Philip's, received a letter informing him one of the firm's 11 delivery vehicles was pictured speeding at 43mph in a 30mph zone along the A37 Wells Road.
But with 14 employees able to drive any one of the fleet of vans he asked for photographic evidence to help him find the culprit.It was then that an extra-terrestrial influence wa suspected. He said: "I couldn't believe the picture they sent me.
"When I looked at the photo it was clear the vehicle had been abducted by an alien lifeform and unfortunately I do not have a driver's licence number or forwarding address for her, him or it." Although the firm's logo can be clearly seen in the picture, the driver's face is blurred and appears to be oversized.
