Moscow, 4 January: Russian nuclear power plants boosted power generation in 2002 by 3.6 per cent as against the previous year up to 139.8bn kWh, the press centre of the Rosenergoatom company reported today.

The planned target of the Russian federal energy commission was overfulfilled by 565m kWh. The share of nuclear power in the total energy balance of the country totalled 15.7 per cent in 2002. Loss of power which was not generated at nuclear power plants over supervisory limitations topped 5.8bn kWh, which is tantamount to an annual idle time of two power units with an aggregate capacity of 880 MW and resulted in …
