sEuropean equity markets were slightly firmer on Friday morning, boosted by a strong rally on Wall Street overnight on the back of strong US economic data.
The pan-European FTSE Eurotop 100 added 0.9 per cent to 1,990.1 in morning trade with Swiss stocks the leading gainers as the market reopened after an extended New Year's holiday.
Elsewhere in Europe, the mood was more subdued. The Paris CAC rose 0.4 per cent to 3,207.0 after it surged 4.3 per cent on Thursday while Frankfurt's Xetra Dax erased opening losses to trade 0.2 per cent higher at 3,1112.4 after the German blue-chip index surged 7.3 per cent on Thursday. …
