The tale is told and now we know that it is possible for the opposition to take power in an East African country through clean, free and fair elections. That ladies and gentlemen is democracy in practice and it has just triggered a signal that will no doubt have an effect in Uganda, Tanzania and the whole African region. We will spend the next few months if not years fixated on the victory of Mwai Kibaki's NARC's over KANU's Uhuru Kenyatta, so I will limit my views to the myths that this election has blown out of the skies. I fear that the shattered myths are so many that the advocates of 'No Change' in Uganda's Movement are going to spend a better part of 2003 at the drawing board redefining their philosophy of democracy and they will certainly have a hard time convincing anyone that President Museveni should have a 'bonus' third term (read: fifth), in State House. As for the Hon. Amama Mbabazi, Jim Muhwezi, Specioza Kazibwe and all other Cabinet Members in the proverbial Movement queue, my advice is that this is a good time to jump board and propose other cadres to line up ahead of you.
