Sanaa, 1 Jan: Chairing a cabinet meeting here Wednesday [1 January], President Ali Abdallah Salih was congratulated by the cabinet on the occasion of the New Year before the whole meeting recited the Al-Fatiha Koranic Surah on the spirit of the late Assistant Secretary-General of the Yemeni Socialist Party, Jarallah Umar, who was shot dead soon after he addressed the Islah annual conference a few days ago.

President Salih got to read about the results of his successful trip to Russia, Syria and Lebanon last December, which was full of cooperation treaties in different fields. President Salih in return directed the cabinet to pursue the implementation of the treaties and protocols he signed during his tour
