Zakopane, 1 January: Prime Minister Leszek Miller said that the result of this year's EU membership referendum should not have any influence on the length of his government's term.
Miller said [in] Zakopane on Tuesday [31 December] that a declaration that the government would step down if society speaks out against Poland's membership in the EU could cause that some Poles would treat this plebiscite as a vote on the fate of the Polish government and not a vote on this country's future.
