As a result of clashes between two [local] commanders in southeastern Afghanistan today, three people have been killed and two wounded.

Our correspondent in [southeastern] Khost reported that as a result of clashes between the forces of commander (?Khyalbaz) and commander (?Mostafa) in the town of Khost three civilians were killed, and two women were also seriously wounded.

The cause of the conflict is not clear so far.

An Afghan source which declined to be named said in a telephone conversation that commander Mostafa was at present in [capital] Kabul and that he had been been dismissed by the governor of Khost [Province, Professor Mohammad Hakim] Taniwal.
