Evidence continues to gather that many mothers of young children are embracing motherhood and putting their careers second. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a majority of women with children under age six work part time or not at all. The Census Bureau reported that in 2000, only 34 percent of mothers with infants worked full time and 50 percent weren't employed at all.
Mothers who are employed are relegating hired day care to their last choice. Only one fifth of children under age five with a working mother are placed in a day care facility or preschool. ...
