Hamilton Beach is recalling more than 20,000 Cappuccino Plus espresso and cappuccino makers because the steam tube inside the appliance could burst under pressure and shower someone nearby with hot water.
The problem is likely to occur if the frothing nozzle becomes clogged. If there's debris in the tube while milk frothing is under way and the user presses the "Espresso" button (something owners should never do, according to Kirby Kriz, a spokeswoman for Hamilton Beach), the machine's steam tube could rupture.
The manufacturer has received 10 reports of burst steam tubes, one of which caused a minor burn injury, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
