THE latest European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) shows, as expected, many cars scoring five perfect stars in frontal impact.

There was also a general improvement in child safety and pedestrian protection results as manufacturers pay more attention to the demand for safer vehicles.

In the latest round of testing, the Toyota Prius received the accolade of being the first hybrid car to be evaluated by Euro NCAP. It was one of the eight cars which received five-star rating for occupant protection and scored full marks for child safety, proving that cars can be lean, green and safe.
