A group of youths demanding freedom for Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Ocalan [jailed head of PKK/Kongra-Gel, Kurdistan Workers' Party/People's Congress of Kurdistan], have undertaken an action in Istanbul, hurling Molotov cocktails. Various demonstrations were also held in Izmir, Amed [Diyarbakir], and Malatya.

Carrying flags and posters of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Ocalan, a group of youths wearing masks gathered at the Karayollari neighbourhood of the Gaziosmanpasa District of Istanbul. Drawing attention to the recent operations, the group frequently cried out slogans such as "We will destroy a world without Ocalan," "The youth is Ocalan's fedayeen," "No to isolation and freedom to Ocalan," and "Kurdish people, wake up and embrace your leader." The group started marching and chanting slogans. The group members hurled the Molotov cocktails that they held in their hands and blocked traffic for a while. Meanwhile, it was noteworthy that those who were in the surroundings extended support to the demonstrators by making victory signs and by crying out slogans along with the demonstrators. Chanting slogans, the group later moved to the side streets and dispersed.

Meanwhile, the DEHAP [pro-Kurdish Democratic People's Party] Izmir Youth Wings distributed 2,000 communiques calling for the lifting Ocalan's isolation.
