The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has recorded 24 percent growth in car sales to 65,046 units in Jun 2004 from 52,060 units in Jun 2003. Sales of commercial vehicles grew by 30 percent to 23,650 units from 18,186 units; of 2-wheelers, by 14.6 percent to 4.7 lakh units; of motorcycles and step-through units, by 12.8 percent to 3.65 lakh units; of scooters, by 12.1 percent to 77,144 units; and of mopeds, by 2.3 percent to 27,339 units.
