ROTO RAP BRENDAN ROBERTS
The long and winding road that is the fantasy baseball season can be viewed from different perspectives. For some, the midway point finally is here. Others are asking: Is it the All-Star break already? (For fantasy columnists, "midway" is a relative term. I feel like that point was two months ago.)
Now is the time when owners are wheeling and dealing to shore up their rosters for a title chase, whether by trading for a veteran or taking a chance on a youngster. Some second half studs and sleepers to consider:
John Buck, C, Royals. He brings a big-league-ready bat to the Royals starting job.
Shawn Green, 1B, Dodgers. Get him before he goes on a tear. Over the past three seasons, he has batted .320 combined in August and September.
Ray Durham, 2B, Giants. After spending most of the first half injured, Durham has enough time to win redemption.
Eric Chavez, 3B, A's. Rumor has it he is getting cut in some fantasy leagues. There's still plenty of time left in the season, and Chavez (hand) is expected back after the break.
