A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 62 percent of American voters believe the world would be a better place if other countries became more like the United States. The number increased to 81 percent among George W. Bush voters, but fell to 48 percent among supporters of John Kerry. The Saudi Binladin Group, run by members of Osama bin Laden's family, will likely be contracted to construct a building in Dubai nearly twice the size of the World Trade Center. The children's section of the Sunday Seattle Times featured an on-line poll with the query, "Who do you blame for 9/11?" Three choices were offered: "Bush" "Clinton" and "CIA." Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda were not among the options. "The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not 'insurgents' or 'terrorists' or 'The Enemy' ... They are the revolution, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow--and they will win." So said "filmmaker" Michael Moore about America's enemies abroad.
University of California at Berkeley lecturer Hatem Bazian, a native Palestinian, asked a group of antiwar protesters in San Francisco: "How come we don't have an intifada in this country? ... it's about time that we have an intifada in this country.... They're gonna say some Palestinian is being too radical ... well, you haven't seen radicalism yet!" Due to high rates of re-enlistment, the U.S. Marine Corps had already fulfilled 90 percent of its force retention goal midway through the fiscal year. Re-enlistments are also high for the U.S. Army.
