KUALA LUMPUR, Mon. - Tan Sri Eric Chia Eng Hock, former managing director of Perwaja Steel Sdn Bhd, was arrested by Anti-Corruption Agency officers at his Section 14 Petaling Jaya bungalow today after a dramatic "chase" that began hours earlier in Sungai Petani.
The millionaire entrepreneur will be charged in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow in connection with losses of RM2.9 billion sustained by Perwaja.
The arrest was confirmed in a joint statement by the Attorney-General's Chambers and the ACA.
Attorney-General Tan Sri Gani Patail is expected to prosecute the case personally.
