KUANTAN, Wed. - Members of the 110,000-strong armed forces can look forward to more nutritious food as well as six meals a day from January.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the Government made the decision to increase quality and frequency of rations upon advice from nutrition experts.
The experts conducted their studies in the middle of the year.
"We will serve the same types of food such as rice, but the calorie content would be examined," he said after breaking fast with army staff from the Fourth Mile Brigade Camp near here last night.
He also presented donations to widows of armed forces personnel residing in the camp.
Najib said the nutritional tests conducted this year was the first by the ministry in 10 years.
