(From New Straits Times (Malaysia))
KUALA LUMPUR, Wed. - The police are still trying to determine whether the 13 students detained under the Internal Security Act following their deportation from Pakistan were involved in militant activities.
Investigations into the students' activities in Pakistan and their activities prior to leaving Malaysia are still ongoing and Bukit Aman has sought the help of the Pakistani authorities.
Sources said Pakistani security forces' assistance was vital to ascertain the actual goings-on in the South Asian country.
"The information received from Pakistan will assist us in our interviews with the students and will also greatly help us in our investigations," the source said.
Should the information and interviews with the students not be enough, investigators are then expected to turn to the families of the students to determine whether the 13 were involved in militant activities.
A police team from Bukit Aman spent a week in Pakistan last month investigating the students' activities following their detention by security forces there on Sept 20.
