JOHOR BARU, Mon. - Johor police and their Singapore counterparts smashed an illegal betting operation active here and across the Causeway with the arrests of 17 suspects, mostly Singaporeans, in raids on Saturday.
The betting ring had been collecting bets amounting to about S$180,000 (RM396,000) per week.
The raids were carried out on the syndicate's main operating hubs here and its bet collection centres in Singapore.
It had been operating for over a year, using two residential properties in Johor Baru as its payout centre for bets collected here and in Singapore.
