Samsung's `rewind' advantage IF you're planning to get a DVD recorder, make sure it's a DVD player that comes with RAM format.

The advantage of DVD-RAM over other formats, such as DVD+RW and DVD-RW, is that it offers fast access to recorded data, meaning you can view the earlier part of the programme while you're recording it.

Samsung's new DVD-R5000 offers this simultaneous recording and playback feature, which basically lets the user "rewind" the TV programme they are watching.

The DVD-R5000 is also a reliable and economical recorder, because a DVD- RAM disk can be written more than 100,000 times, while discs that come in -RW and +RW …
