TAN Sri Datuk Seri Dr Chong Hon Nyan and Puan Sri Datin Seri Chong Eu Ngoh are chronic gardeners. They are botanophiles who have synchronously and passionately established a garden that immediately evokes excitement, pleasure and warmth. It is a garden symbolic of their lives together; a celebration of their perennial respect and deep love for each other.
"The garden is cared for by two full-time gardeners who are unemployed graduates, and no longer employable!" chortles Chong, his rugged face crinkling up. "A grass-cutter comes regularly to mow the lawn, keeping it decently trimmed and that's about all he does. My wife and I do a lot of the maintenance ourselves." The Chongs' garden is a veritable wilderness, loosely planned to reflect a simple, natural kampung atmosphere where things are allowed to grow and thrive naturally.
