HYDERABAD (India): Asia Cup winners India outplayed African champions Egypt 5-1, while underdogs Nigeria gave former Olympic and World Cup winners Pakistan a scare before losing 4-3 on Thursday in Pool B matches at the Afro-Asian Games.
In Pool A games, South Korea overcame Ghana 3-0 and South Africa were held to a 1-1 draw by Malaysia.
South Africa, silver medalists in this month's All-Africa Games, had Malaysia struggling when Craig Fulton drew first blood in the 39th minute.
But Malaysia's Nor Azlan Raheem rescued his side with a 57th-minute goal off a Jiwa Mohan pass.
