KUALA LUMPUR, Tues. - The Federal Government may absorb monies owed by State Governments for water infra-structure works when it takes over water management operations.

As at Dec 31 last year, States owed the Federal Government RM807 million, with Selangor, Johor and Kedah topping the list.

Deputy Works Minister Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin said with the takeover, the Federal Government would most likely absorb the liabilities.

He revealed today that Selangor owed RM144 million, but declined to give the figures for the other States.
