By the end of last week, Bernie Bickerstaff, coach and general manager of the expansion Bobcats, was satisfied. He rattled on about the group of talented, athletic young players he had assembled in Charlotte, reveling in his roster of rejects and reclamation projects. He had secured two future first-round draft picks, from Phoenix (for taking Jahidi White off the Suns' payroll) and Cleveland (in exchange for Sasha Pavlovic). He got some interesting players who could develop with playing time--Gerald Wallace, Theron Smith, Tamar Slay and Jamal Sampson among them.
