Women are 11 of the 25 new MacArthur Fellows, which include 12 professors in computers, creative writing and the sciences. The five women faculty chosen are:

* Dr. Lisa Curran, 25, a professor of forestry and environmental sciences at Yale University, who is addressing deforestation in endangered areas

* Dr. Linda Griffin, 46, a professor of biological and mechanical engineering at MIT, a bioengineer working on growing synthetic cells

* Adrian LeBlanc, 42, a narrative journalist and visiting scholar at New York University's department of journalism, creating a new form using passion and an eye for detail
