KOTA KINABALU, Mon. - An Indonesian facing the death penalty told the High Court today that he knew the confession he made before magistrate Azreena Aziz could be used as evidence in court.
Azman Bakar alias Samsuddin Mustamin said the magistrate had cautioned him that whatever he said could be used as evidence in court and that he understood the caution.
He added Azreena did not force him to make the cautioned statement and that she allowed him to speak freely.
Azman, 27, is accused of murdering Norjan, 52, at Room 208 of the Shangri-La Hotel in Bandaran Berjaya between 4am and 6am on Feb 11.
