KUALA LUMPUR, Mon. - The majority of the 191 pro-tem division chiefs have been retained after most of the 19,232 Umno branches concluded their elections last week.

There are no surprises as far as senior party leaders are concerned.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Razak, party vice-presidents Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib, Menteris Besar and Chief Ministers and other Supreme Council leaders, except a few, retained their posts uncontested.

However keen contests are expected in 50 divisions with several interesting showdowns involving high- profile party leaders.
