An international alliance of information technology companies promoting enterprise grid computing established a Japan committee Monday.
Grid computing is an open system of networking in which a number of computers are linked to share computing power and data storage to process data packets that are too large for a single stand-alone machine. Such technology enables, for example, hospitals to pool their computing and information resources to effectively create a supercomputer.
