Belarus stages military parade on Independence Day.

Official celebrations and a military parade were held in central Minsk on 3 July to mark Independence Day and the 60th anniversary of the country's liberation from the Nazi occupation. Belarusian television carried a live relay of the festivities, which lasted for almost two hours and were attended by President Alyaksandr Lukashenka, who wore military uniform. The parade was commanded by Belarusian Deputy Defence Minister Maj-Gen Yuryy Merantsow. President Lukashenka addressed the parade participants with a speech.
