Official celebrations and a military parade were held in central Minsk on 3 July to mark Independence Day and the 60th anniversary of the country's liberation from the Nazi occupation. Belarusian television carried a live relay of the festivities, which lasted for almost two hours and were attended by President Alyaksandr Lukashenka, who wore military uniform.
