SUNTORY MAKES IMPOSSIBLE "BLUE ROSE" REALITY--"Blue rose" is no longer a synonym for "impossible." Japanese beverage maker Suntory Ltd. said Wednesday it has succeeded in creating a true blue rose, a deed that has eluded flower growers and scientists for centuries.
Finally making the impossible flower bloom after more than a decade of effort, Suntory hopes to start selling the blue rose possibly in 2007 or 2008. The price would be quite expensive, naturally: about five or six times that of ordinary roses, according to Suntory.
