REMBAU, Fri. - The Agriculture Ministry has been asked by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to introduce a new programme called Tunas Mekar to help increase the income of farmers.

Agriculture Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he met the Prime Minister this morning when Abdullah told him of his idea.

"He wants Tunas Mekar to involve young people, especially graduates who specialise in agriculture. These youngsters will be involved in the development and running of small- and medium-scale industries in rural areas.
