PENANG is all set to to be the third place in the country to have a monorail system, after Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. The Federal Government has issued a letter of intent for the project, but the company given the job has not been identified.
The Penang Government is now negotiating the alignment for the 37km long project, which will have its hub at Komtar, with the company. Komtar is a highrise State Government and commercial complex in the heart of George Town.
