A new book covering the period when national newspapers were produced in Manchester will be published in September.

The Other Fleet Street is by Robert Waterhouse, who worked on the nationals in the north and was also behind the North West Times, the shortlived quality broadsheet launched from Manchester in 1988.

Waterhouse describes the book as ?a celebration? of the years between 1900-1988 when daily national newspapers were published in the city and employed thousands of staff. …
