KOLKATA, July 1 Asia Pulse - Sun Microsystems India Private Ltd (SMIPL), the wholly-owned subsidiary of US$11 billion Sun Microsystems Inc, US, has announced it is planning to focus on bioinformatics sector in India and to set up a competency centre (CoC) for bio-sciences in Hyderabad.
"We are focussing on the bio-science sector, which has huge growth potential in India. We are setting up a competency centre for bio-sciences in Hyderabad jointly with the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD)," Bhaskar Pramanik, Managing Director, Sun Microsystems India, told PTI here.
The project called 'Sun Centre of Excellence in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology and Medical Informatics' would be a joint endeavour with CDFD and the Andhra Pradesh state government as partners, he said.
