The Chartered Insurance Institute and Cass Business School have teamed up to create an 'insurance university' in an effort to improve the performance of the management talent in insurance and provide a demonstrable industry career path for graduates.
A memorandum of understanding was signed by the CII and CBS, formerly known as City University Business School, last week to lay the foundations for the development of the joint venture.
Four propositions have been developed for those who have completed their CII Associateship: a specifically tailored MSc in insurance; an MBA relevant to insurance management and leadership; executive and senior executive development programmes; and a world-class research function.
CII director general Dr Sandy Scott said: "I have heard it said for far too long that there is a dearth of new talent entering our industry - this initiative is a substantial part of the answer. It will make insurance a significantly more attractive career option for quality school leavers and graduates and create an industry talent pool to rival any other sector of our economy.
