After passing dozens of bills to promote tourism and recreational sports in Korea, Rep. Chung Dong-chea has been selected as culture and tourism minister. Chung, 54, was a member of the National Assembly's Culture and Tourism Committee for eight years through last month. He impressed many with his knowledge and vision for the industry in Korea. President Roh Moo-hyun also needed to appoint someone who shared his views on press reform. Chung had experience dealing with the media as Uri Party's chief publicist earlier this year.
