TUALATIN, Ore. -- Digimarc (Nasdaq:DMRC) announced today the appointment of Joe Sanders to lead its business development initiatives and help shape the company's product strategy in the Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) market.
Sanders brings to his new assignment more than 30 years' experience in the DMV market. Prior to his retirement from the New York State government in 2003, he served at the New York State Department of Transportation and Motor Vehicles in a variety of executive management positions, including: field operations, fiscal management, customer service delivery, document production, driver safety and motor carrier systems.
During his career at the New York DMV, Sanders chaired the effort to design and implement New York's first digital driver license in 1992, and chaired the AAMVA Working group that developed the first Model Program for Uniform Identification Standards. During this period, he also served as the inaugural chair of the AAMVA Uniform Identification (UID) Sub-Committee, as vice-chair of the AAMVA International Driver License and Control Committee, and as a member of the 2001 AAMVA Task Force on Identification Security. Since his retirement, Sanders has continued to serve the DMV community and AAMVA as an identification security consultant, contributing to the development of the AAMVA DL/ID Security Framework which was announced earlier this year in Houston.
"I am pleased to welcome Joe to our marketing team, with his deep knowledge of the DMV market and his distinguished record of contribution to the DMV community," said Rob Durst, vice president of worldwide marketing and business development for Digimarc ID Systems. "Joe's insight into, and concern about, the needs of our customers and his expert guidance will help us to develop and deploy world-class solutions that best serve the needs of our customers and the increasingly important role that they play in our society and economy."
"Digimarc is the leading provider of identification solutions in the DMV market," said Sanders. "I am excited to be able to apply what I have learned as a customer and industry expert to continue to expand and improve Digimarc's product offerings."
