As maternal age increases, twins and triplets don't experience the same decline in perinatal outcomes as do singletons, according to results of a cross-sectional study

Assisted reproductive technology and other benefits of a higher socioeconomic class may explain the finding, according to Dr. J. Zhang of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, Bethesda, Md., and associates (Ferril. Steril. 78[3]:562-68, 2002).

Women of higher socioeconomic status are more likely to use assisted reproductive technology, including transfer of donor eggs from younger women.
