Gulf Air takes off
Gulf Air has posted its best results in four years - recording losses of just $52.8 million against the 2002 figure of $108 million. Revenues also showed robust growth to just over $1 billion, against $910 million one year earlier. Results were encouraging despite this being the "toughest aviation year ever," according to the Manama-based carrier's CEO, James Hogan. Launched in June 2003, the economy airline Gulf Traveler helped immensely in improving yields in the high-traffic intra-Gulf and Indian subcontinent segments.
