New Delhi, Jun 25 (PTI) Scientists are actively promoting for large-scale cultivation, superfine world-class varieties of rice which can replace Thailand's 'Jasmine' in the global trade even as the government has given its nod for direct private procurement of paddy for export. "The Pusa Sugandh-4 and 5 can give Thai export varieties a run for their money. These are excellent varieties for export because of their non-sticky elongated grains and pleasant aroma", Director, Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) S Nagarajan said here.
