After his second quarterfinal loss in a row at a major tournament, Sven-Goran Eriksson vowed to stay on as England coach so he can lead his team at least into the semifinals of the 2006 World Cup.
"Yes, I am going to stay," he told reporters after England was eliminated from Euro 2004 by host Portugal in a penalty shootout.
"There is a World Cup in two years' time. I want to play more than quarterfinals in the big tournaments. I want to play semifinals and finals. Let's work for that," Eriksson said.
