The threat of global warming was put in chilling terms on January 9 when David King, the UK government's chief scientific advisor, wrote in Science magazine that climate change is a greater threat to the world than international terrorism. In February, Canadian Environment Minister David Anderson echoed King's words, and later that month, the Pentagon released a report on the dire effect climate change would have on national security. Even so, there was no outpouring of public outrage. That could change this summer.
