The House Judiciary Committee has passed a bipartisan bill that limits malpractice awards to injured patients. HR 4600, the HEALTH Act, caps noneconomic damages at $250,000, and limits punitive damages to twice the amount of economic damages awarded or $250,000, whichever is greater.
